George County : County Officials


Have you ever wondered just what all the Circuit Clerk’s office handles? Of course we know that is where you get your marriage license and register to vote. But this office handles so much more, such as absentee voting, jury duty, civil and criminal court, judgment roll and collection of all criminal fines.

The Circuit Clerk's office is located in the front of the Courthouse and people often stop in needing directions, guidance, or to visit and enjoy a cup of coffee. The friendly and knowledgeable staff in this office is always willing to assist people in any way they can.

The Circuit Clerk position is elected by the entire County to a four year term with no term limit.

  • Voter registration deadline is Saturday, Oct. 8 (Office will be open 8 am- Noon)
  • Absentee voting currently underway
  • Absentee ballot deadline- Saturday, Nov. 5 (Office will be open 8 am- Noon)
  • General Election- Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016- Polls open at 7 am

Circuit Clerk

Chad WelfordMr. Chad Welford was elected to be Circuit Clerk in 2008. He is married and the father of three daughters. He attended the University of South Alabama and is a member of Agricola Baptist Church. Mr. Welford is a member of Lucedale Rotary Club and Singing River Regional Facility Foundation Board.
