CIRCUIT CLERK
Have you ever wondered just what all the Circuit Clerk’s office handles? Of course we know that is where you get your marriage license and register to vote. But this office handles so much more, such as absentee voting, jury duty, civil and criminal court, judgment roll and collection of all criminal fines.
The Circuit Clerk's office is located in the front of the Courthouse and people often stop in needing directions, guidance, or to visit and enjoy a cup of coffee. The friendly and knowledgeable staff in this office is always willing to assist people in any way they can.
The Circuit Clerk position is elected by the entire County to a four year term with no term limit.

Mr. Welford was first elected as the
County's Circuit Clerk in 2008. He was re-elected in Aug. 2023. He is married and the father of three
daughters with four grandchildren. He attended the University of South Alabama and is in steady physical
training for his next triathlon! Mr. Welford is a faithful member of Agricola Baptist Church and a long time
member of the Lucedale Rotary Club, and Christmas Parade volunteer. He is also a dedicated member of the MS
Circuit Clerk's Association serving as Secretary, Treasurer, 2nd Vice president,
1st Vice president, and President.
