SHERIFF
The Sheriff is the "Chief Law Enforcement Officer" for the County. The Sheriff's duties generally fall into two broad important categories - Law Enforcement and Administrative.
These duties are specifically to keep the peace within the county, by causing all offenders in his view to enter into bonds, with sureties, appearing and keeping the peace in circuit court, and by committing such offenders in case of refusal. The sheriff is also charged with the duty to quell riots, routs, affrays and unlawful assemblages.
Sheriff Keith Havard was sworn-in on Dec. 21, 2015 by Justice Court Judge Jessie Underwood and officially assumed the Sheriff's position on Jan. 1, 2016 at midnight.
